What is the cost of the Panama Canal expansion project and who is financing it?
The total cost of the expansion project is $5.25 billion. $2.3 billion of the total cost is being financed by the below credit institutions:
- Japan Bank for International Cooperation: $800 million

European Investment Bank: $500 million

Inter-American Development Bank: $400 million

International Finance Cooperation: $300 million

Corporacion Andina de Fomento: $300 million
The remaining cost of the project will be financed via toll revenue from utilizing the current and expanded canal.
