TEU — "twenty foot equivalent unit." A standard container size that can be loaded and sealed onto ships, railroad cars, trucks, and planes. The dimensions of a TEU are 20 ft. (length) x 8 ft. (width) x 9 ft. (height). The maximum gross mass for dry cargo TEU is 52,910 lbs.: 47,770 lbs. (net load) + 5,140 lbs. (empty container weight). A TEU can accommodate 796 bushels of soybeans. |
